Dine in and sushi bar...great place to eat when weather is warm...seating outside as well and they open the inside to the outside
Dave is the best! Super personable and friendly. Totally on his game with quick service with drinks and food
Had a not so usual experience yesterday. We have always loved going to Yaya for the great food. But for some reason yesterday was different (Mar 6th 2020 lunch time). We ordered food with 2 spice level for my wife but got food which was extremely spicy and not bearable to eat. Yaya's spice levels are (1-5 per our server where 1 being lowest). And we eat spicy foods regularly as part of our diet so it's not like we are not used to spicy foods. That was not why I am giving the bad review. When we mentioned this to our server, she made it sound that the food is not spicy and the cook has prepared it properly. Instead of this she should have at least asked us if she can get the dish replaced and get a lower spiced dish properly cooked for us. We left the restaurant not eating properly and felt that the entire experience was not good.
Yaya ‘s cookbook is open for dine in now. Recommend to make reservation for party over 3 and more
I really enjoyed YaYa’s. I ended up getting the teriyaki salmon, and I truly think it was some of the best salmon I’ve ever had. It was incredibly tender and flavorful, but it wasn’t overpowering by any means. I tried some of my dad’s jalapeño rolls, which I’d never had before, and I liked them. I think the salmon was better than the sushi, but the sushi was still pretty good. The interior is pretty cool too! The service was a little slow, but I think that’s because it was packed, and they may have been a little short staffed. I’d like to try some more dishes on the menu, so I’ll have to make a trip back down here at some point in the future!
LOVE. After I discovered this place I only come here to meet friends and family for food. Everything I ordered has been so yummy. Sushi happy hour is my favorite!! Really excellent social distancing as well. 6 Stars!!
Wow, it’s not too often you try a new place and it makes this kind of impression. Service was not good, it was great! Tonya was so positive, energetic, and clearly loves her customers! Then the food came, clearly all things home made and, it was delicious!
Absolutely love this place! Amazing atmosphere. A place to come, unwind and enjoy AMAZING food! 💛
Tried this place, based on Hot & New Recommendation in Yelp. There is some indoor and more outdoor seating, the outdoor seating is just by the side of the Regal theater, constant foot traffic, especially in the evenings. The food was a mixed experience. we ordered a roast pork dish, cant remember the name, expecting some succulent pieces of pork, instead got some dried up pork slices almost like thick cut deli meat. Have eaten a lot of Thai, never seen something like this, nor would like to try.My wife ordered the drunken noodles which was very good and flavorful, although it came in a chipped plate.Though its called Asian fusion, its mostly Thai and Sushi, so not t sure if we want to come back here, given that there are so many other Thai or Japanese options around.
The food and service at YaYas was exceptional! Our server was very helpful with making some excellent suggestions from the menu and we just really enjoyed our experience here! I would absolutely recommend this restaurant if you are in the Richmond area!
I love this place. The staff is so kind and they really make you feel welcome and the food is literally to die for. Absolutely amazing. It's a little pricey but it's well worth it for an amazing experience and atmosphere.
I love Yaya's Cookbook 💜 I've gone twice so far and both times the food and service have been amazing. Everything from the design and layout of the restaurant to unique menu options is truly an awesome experience. 10/10 would go again (btw you should really try the bulgogi and the roti. Also the vanilla ice cream is way better than store bought)Picture: The sushi chef gave these to my friend and I because he saw how excited we got when we saw him place them on someone else's plate. The bear's name is Joonie 💜
LOVE YaYas!! When then full restaurant was open (pre-covid), we used to love the fun swinging chairs. Now we do takeout and they’re super fast, it’s an easy process, and the food is soooo food! Favorites include the pork dumplings, spring rolls, curry, and sushi!
I had a new roll this time I went. It was delicious. It had seaweed salad in the center with meat draped over top. I absolutely recommend this place. Every time I go I get the Thai Iced Tea, and a a roll of sushi, or Drunken Fried Rice.
This place was absolutely amazing I'm glad we chose to go here. It's a must try. Name of food in the photos.
Where has this place been hiding. Our food was magnificent. The environment was so relaxed and just yummy. Will be back
Sushi was amazing. Cocktail was very good and pretty with its ice ball with infused edible flower. Service was on point. Ohhh and a must is the Brussel Sprouts for an appetizer. Delicious!! Looking forward to going back and trying the street fair food and noodles.
Loved the atmosphere. Food is wonderful. I had the drunken noodles and loved it
4.3 for the mind blowing interiors and cleanliness ... The menu is too exhaustive and one might need some help with the dishes if not familiar with the dishes. I landed into salmon special dish - which turned out to be uncooked. Was not bad but not as per my expectations :) Liked the cocktails menu and the rolls! Overall a nice place for a quite fine evening :)
Delightful cocktails. The Beef Pho was yummy. The owner/manager (?) allowed my kids to play on the swings while we waited for our food, which was fun! Only negative is that the service was slow and staggered, meaning we all didn't get our food at the same time.
We were seated in the large "party room". Gorgeous neon painted walls and large wooden swings at our table. The food was amazing. My sister and I got the Thai Basil w/ Softshell Crab Pad See-Ew w/ Tofu. I highly recommend. Tons of flavor. Lots of the dishes were labeled as spicy so if you're a fan of the hot stuff, I also recommend it.Will be back!
This is my favorite Thai restaurant ever, anywhere, period. The food is creative and fun. The service is warm and friendly. The happy hour treats are delicious. Also, they are nice about us bringing our dog to the patio.
Very cool atmosphere with great food and excellent service. We didn’t get too adventurous with the menu and stuck with basic helping of various sushi and an order of vegetable pad Thai. Sushi was all a good healthy size and seemed very fresh. The pad Thai was flavorful and we didn’t leave a single bite left. This place really shined with the service. Everyone in the restaurant was incredibly friendly, welcoming and attentive. Looking forward to our next visit!
Staff is very friendly! Fast service! The food is tasty and the restaurant has an overall good atmosphere!
A very pleasant surprise being located next to the theater. Very accommodating for special requests and all the food was excellent I came with a wheelchair-bound individual and it was no problem. A good place to eat before or after the movies or as a destination by itself
Awesome food and great staff. Very impressed with the friendly staff. Food was a bit on the smaller side in regards to portion but it was enough. Bulgogi was delicious and tender. Highly recommend yall visit and we will surely visit again!
This place was SO GOOD! A slight twist (and sushi) ad on from the sister restaurant sabai, and all the greatness it entails. I highly recommend the pumpkin curry and be mindful its LARGE. The service was a little slow but Im guessing thats because its still pretty new
Thai street food has landed in RVA. Whether you're sitting by the bar or on any of their swinging seats, you'll be served with a smile. Their extensive menu has a wide variety of entres and delectable cocktails to choose from. Being a former Japanese restaurant, the owner of YaYas have found a clever way to transform the hibachi tables into Asian food vending stalls.
Great food and service. Great Happy hour drinks and food. The prices are good too. It's a keeper for me. I'll be back!
This restaurant makes me feel like I was transported to Asia in a theme park sort of way. Food was good, I especially like the chicken satay which was surprisingly moist compared to other chicken satays I've had. The whole red snapper though was overcooked. It was still tasty though. The staff was very attentive, they must have refilled my diet coke every time it hit 50%.I would go again.
My favorite restaurant! Great food especially their Pad Thai! A must visit place. Go here all the time. Nice ambience and very friendly service.
Found this place from a colleague. I love the atmosphere, the food was fresh and delicious! I highly recommend the crab fried rice & spicy salmon roll. They are moderately priced but worth every penny!
I have to make my way back here again. The atmosphere was fun and the food was so good I forgot to take pictures. The salmon avocado and mango was new and my favorite. Get there between 4 and 6:30 for happy hour specials!!
The total package. Award winning customer service and food! We frequent YaYa's every couple of months (maybe more). Tonya knows us when we walk in and her entire staff is amamzing! The food is fresh, fast and fancy! You can tell they all love what they do and in my opinion food made with love always taste better. Sushi is almost too beautiful to eat. We have not been disappointed yet and don't expect to be.
Awesome food. Liked the authentic Thai food here. Tried Tom yum coconut soup with shrimp meal. It was excellent. Nice decoration and friendly environment. Highly recommend.
Good food, friendly staff, and interesting decor. The seating is not very comfortable, but it looks cool!
So tasty. Fabulously eclectic atmosphere and delightful staff!
I had a great first experience at Yaya’s. The food was terrific and it seemed to be prepared quickly but not too quickly. The sushi and cocktails were solid and the appetizers were amazing. Will definitely be back to try some of the other menu options.
I love this place!!!! The dishes are so tasty and the decor is amazing. I try to eat here anytime I get to visit Richmond.
If its your first time in shortpump or your looking for a new regular spot. THE BEST ASIAN CUISINE RESTAURANT IN VIRGINIA. The staff greet you as you walk in, they make personal connections with you. The food is BEYOND phenomenal from the taste, to the presentation, and the consistency. The DECOR is also so beautiful and done with a very keen eye.
The staff are very friendly, the food is delicious and the atmosphere electric. They have a great bar and happy hour specials. Their sushi is beautiful as well as delicious and their meals have all been amazing. And that's all without having been to the sushi bar complete with swinging seats or experiencing the hibachi grill. They have something for everyone.
Decided to try a new place today. The food was excellent, happy hour specials on apps & drinks even on the weekend! Servers were friendly & helpful answering questions! Can't wait to go back & try something else!
Truly friendly people, excellent food, and a great comfortable atmosphere. Highly recommend
This place is the jam. The Drunken Noodles are spicy and delicious, and the curry dishes are smooth and just as spicy. A huge favorite of ours. The inside of the restaurant is cool too. A+.
We tried 5 or 6 small plates, easily the best thai food we've had. This place was better then any thai place in nyc. The prices are incredibly low for the quality of food. The drinks could easily be $15, but they only charge $8 or $10. Service was great and personable. My wife and I are completely sold on YaYas cookbook. Such a great place!
Food and service were fantastic! Highly recommend the boat!
Fun atmosphere. Great food. Super nice service.
Unique selection of Asian cuisine. Fantastic service. Awesome swinging chair things that held with no issues.
Good ambiance. Cocktail seems a little expensive. Food was fine and nice service too.
YaYas was amazing. The drink- Miss Stephanie was great! Crab Fried Rice - delicious. Service was friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable of the menu ( even offered suggestions) - food and drinks. Will most certainly return!!
